Field Trip!

Our class went on a trip to the pumpkin patch at Albion Apple Orchard. This trip integrated the student's in-class Pumpkin Inquiry with real-life connections to the life cycle of a pumpkin on the farm. It was an interesting experience to see the students outside of the classroom. I noticed a difference in many of the student's behaviours and I think this relates to the freedom they felt being outside to explore the farm with their peers and teachers.

Some children were interested in catching the attention of some cows across the field by calling out, "MOOOOOOOOO!"

We all chose a class pumpkin together. They chose this pumpkin because they learned that white pumpkins are called, "ghost pumpkins".

This is the result of all of our class Pumpkin Inquiry that features investigating the size and weight of pumpkins by using different forms of measurement, such as pattern building blocks.

This also includes a reflection on what they learned at the farm, such as the life cycle of a pumpkin.
