Yoga Promotes Positivity

For an assignment in my Child Development class, we were tasked with shadowing a student of our choosing. I decided to choose this student, which I named, "Daisy". Daisy likes to wander around the classroom when she is uninterested with class activities. She also lacks proper social skills when playing with the other students in her class. This often makes her frustrated and results in her solution of isolating herself from other children and clinging on to adults.

When she took an interest in Yoga as part of our DPA, my Mentor Teacher and I thought it would be a great component to add to her treasure chest. Her treasure chest is a box of items that are meant to help her clam down or when she needs time to herself. It includes a stress ball, a rosary, and a mat. Daisy and I worked together to choose her favourite Yoga positions from an assortment of cards.

Yoga promotes positive mental health, which may work to support Daisy with getting back on tasks in the classroom. She was really engaged in choosing her favourite Yoga poses.
