During Learning Centres, this student connected pattern blocks and arranged them by sorting by colour. She was extremely happy with her ability to distinguish between the coloured blocks and piecing them together to make a long line.

She explained how she sorted the blocks as,

"15 dark blue blocks, 13 light blue blocks, 7 white blocks, 6 red blocks, 6 brown blocks, 7 orange blocks, 6 yellow blocks, 8 black blocks. I did a really good job by myself!”

I prompted her how she sorted her blocks, by using size, shape, kind or colour, and she responded with,

“I sorted by colour!”
