Let's Sort Together

Today we worked in small groups to explore the different ways we can sort objects. We learned about the four sorting rules; colour, shape, kind, and size.

Before starting to sort, the students brainstormed ideas about what they believed sorting meant. My Mentor Teacher recorded their answers on chart paper as they expanded on their responses.

Students were able to collaborate on ways to sort these objects by shape and size.
I also introduced the terms for these 3D shapes, naming them as cube, pyramid, cone, and rectangle-prism.
